Domarat11111 (10/06/2020)
One of the oldest monuments in Międzyrzecz. It was established in the 15th century. Damaged during the siege of the city by Teutonic mercenaries in 1520, rebuilt and later subjected to several minor reconstructions. Inside, unique Renaissance polychromes were discovered, filling the walls and vault of the chancel. They are currently undergoing renovation, most biblical scenes and saints are already outlined. Inside, there are contemporary, though somewhat archaic-looking altars, baroque sculptures: life-size St. Louis and St. Agnes and a small sculpture of St. George. On the wall next to the main entrance there is a Renaissance epitaph. Interesting shape and architectural solutions. The temple houses the relics of the first Polish martyrs - the Five Międzyrzecki Brothers. You can feel the breeze of history here ...

A beautiful church, apparently the oldest in the region. Very good acoustics and recently discovered frescoes on the walls. Five-arm vaults.

A great monument. Unfortunately, it is closed because the priests are not interested in tourists. THEM are interested in TACA. September 16, 2020.

Nice gothic church, a bit run down in some sections but overall good condition

St. John the Baptist in Międzyrzecz represents the Gothic style, is made of brick, has gables richly decorated with blendes. It is the only preserved monument of sacred Gothic architecture in the city. The body of the temple was built in the fourteenth century, while the remaining parts of the building in the sixteenth century. The interior of the church is hall, with three naves and five bays. In the 16th and 17th centuries, the temple was owned by Lutherans.
