A great place for a walk with my family. The gate, the castle together with the surrounding moat and the river Obra give this place a great atmosphere. It's worth visiting this place. Here is a piece of Polish history, worth recommending.

The castle in Międzyrzecz is a relatively small object located in the vicinity of the park and the river. Painstakingly renovated along with accompanying facilities is an interesting proposition for tourists.

The castle in the place of the previous stronghold was erected around 1350 by order of King Casimir the Great. In 1474, he was occupied by Maciej Korwin. In October 1520, after previous artillery fire, they were assaulted by the Teutonic mercenaries under the command of Wolf von Schönburgaw helping the Teutonic Order in the Prussian war with Poland. After the destruction, its reconstruction began, which was carried out until 1574, building two round bastions. In 1655 damaged by the Swedish army. In the first half In the 18th century, the castle was destroyed so much that despite attempts to rebuild it in 1691, it was unusable. That is why the starostas in 1719 erected a new residence in the vicinity of the castle ruins. After the Second Partition of Poland, the Prussian authorities handed over the castle together with the manor houses, a farm and a park to the German landowning family. The interiors of the castle were used as utility rooms, and the southern slopes of the hill as vineyards. After 1945, the entire complex was transferred to the museum. In the years 1954-1958 archaeological research was carried out at the castle. In the 1950s and 1960s, conservation work was carried out and the castle was secured in the form of a permanent ruin. Only the gate building and the basement of a Renaissance residential house were reconstructed. The easiest way to get to the castle island is from the intersection of the market square, Podzamcze street through the gate house, rebuilt in 1975 on the model of the eighteenth-century. On the left side of the courtyard stands the baroque buildings of the former eldership and court annexe, and straight ahead - the ruins of a medieval castle, which you can enter through the gate and view them from the inside, or walk around the castle around the moat. The museum presents a model of the castle, showing its original appearance. From 2005, it was impossible to enter the courtyard of the castle. Initially, the reason for this state of affairs was the renovation of a wooden bridge leading to the main gate (works were completed in 2006), and since 2006 - technical condition of defensive walls. Currently, the castle is open to visitors, it is also planned to open in the basement of the torture chamber.

Great place as a park. The restaurant is terrible !!! Clutter and stench. Outdoor seating in a deplorable dirty condition.
