The museum is located in baroque buildings: the starost's manor and the court outbuilding. It is famous in Europe for the largest collection of Polish, baroque coffin portraits - and the only one that has family groups of these portraits. Among other things - the posthumous image of the youngest person in the country. For this an interesting archaeological collection. Here, the most interesting is the skeleton of the warrior who fell during the siege of the castle in 1094, a 1000-year-old baby rattle, a horse bone skate, etc. The halls of the history of the city and art cover several hundred years of the history of the most border center of the Kingdom of Poland and the First Polish Republic (the borders of three other countries coincided with the Polish borders), they are distinguished by a wide range of exhibits - from epitaph portraits, through documents, old prints, devotional articles, seals, everyday use for maps, photos and two large models of the city, showing what it looked like 100 and 400 years ago. A separate chapter is the ethnographic exhibition, presenting the culture of indigenous Polish people - with tools, local clothes (Międzyrzecko-Babimojski), folk instruments, and folk art. A must see!

It is a pity that the Museum does not inform about its temporary closure. Disregard for visitors.

Fantastic, beautifully situated castle. Very interesting permanent exhibitions on regional issues. The largest collection of the coffin portrait. I would recommend!
