I was glad to find a picture of this chapel here. Thank you ! . It is related to the defense of the inhabitants of the then village of Zabrze against Danish troops (probably around 1630). However, earlier these troops, commanded by Count Mansfeld, attacked Gliwice. The city defended itself bravely. Women from Gliwice also fought, pouring tar and hot millet from the walls on enemy heads. A sculpture of such a woman can be seen at the corner of Plebańska and Short streets in Gliwice - preferably from the Market Square. A little later, there was a second attempt by the Danes to Gliwice - but without the commander Mansfeld, who died on his way to Venice. Gliwice did not surrender to the invaders again and then part of the Danish troops moved to the then village of Zabrze. Zabrze defended themselves bravely and fiercely! After the fight, the fallen Danes were buried in a common grave, right here, on Staromiejska Street, and a chapel was built on their grave. (Very nice gesture.) This chapel has of course been rebuilt many times, but the most important thing is that it is! The Zabrze people buried their defenders in the cemetery near the church ... (?).

The chapel is supposedly the oldest building in Zabrze. It was probably erected in the second half of the 17th century around 1654. It comes from the period of the Swedish invasions. It was located in the mass grave of Swedish or Danish soldiers. In 2010 a marble plaque was placed next to the chapel with the inscription "VIVOS VOCO MORTUOS PLANGO , FUGURA FRANGO FOR COLLECTIVE COMMEMORATION, SWEDISH AND DANISH SOLDIERS WERE BROUGHT IN THIS PLACE IN THE FIRST HALF OF 17TH RESIDENTS OF ZABRZA 2010 The chapel's furnishings have probably changed many times over the centuries. A cross hangs at the top of the roof, and the figure of the Mother of God is inside
