Revelation According to the tradition handed down from generation to generation, behind the village, on the road to Annopol, a crying Mother of God who was dressed in the ordinary peasant's outfit was seen sitting on the roadside. This caused a great commotion not only among the inhabitants of the village, but also the surrounding towns. At the place of apparitions, crowds of people began to arrive, various gifts were being carried away. Some have claimed that they have received special favors. Church authorities were skeptical about these visits. The bishop prohibited the priests from announcing to the faithful about the phenomena that took place in Księżomierzy until the relevant commission issued a ruling in this matter, while the bishops commissioned to bury the stone on which the Mother of God was to sit. This happened during natural disasters in the years 1594 - 1602. The revelation of the Mother of God must have been exceptionally loud and the news spread widely, since the bishop of Kraków arrived at this place, or the field, behind the tiny village that was then Księżomierz. Cardinal Bernard Maciejowski, who returned to Krakow, ordered the penance procession and participated in it together with the papal nuncio, Claudius Rankoncio, and the clergy and masses of the faithful. And after the defeat ended, with gratitude, and as a memento of revelation, he ordered to build a brick chapel in the place dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and place in it a painting of the Mother of God with the Child. This chapel became the branch church of the Dzierzkowice parish. Inhabitants of Księżomierzy were obliged to take care of the building and furnishing of this tiny church. The image of Our Lady handed over by the Cardinal belonged to the images of Mary, popular in these times in Poland, created on the model of the icon of the Mother of God called the Mother of God the Snowy. He probably came from the early seventeenth century. From the very beginning, it was considered to be a miraculous, and the place where the chapel was erected was called "revealing". This name has survived for centuries and now also functions among residents. Necessary church building In the middle of the 18th century, the chapel began to fall into disrepair. A priest living in the village was not there for good. Probably at that time, it was decided to transport the painting to the parish church in Dzierzkowice in order to save it from destruction. Legend dating back to the 18th century tells that the image of oxen placed on a cart could not pull beyond the boundaries of the village, which was seen as a sign that Our Lady wants to stay in Księżomierz. In 1783, the mayor of Księżomierzy, Michał Guz, bought a wooden church from Chodel intended for demolition, dating from around 1430. He was transported to Księżomierz and slightly rebuilt, re-assembled in the place chosen by Mary.
