The construction of the castle was started by Mikołaj Firlej in 1508-1526 on the high slope of the Vistula in the present Puławy district. Architectural style renaissance later baroque. Architect 1577-1587 Santi Gucci after 1667 Tylman z Gameren. Major reconstruction 1565-1585, first half of the 17th century. The castle changed owners many times, first Piotr Firlej, then Andrzej Firlej, then Jan Karol Tarło 1654. In 1656 the castle was burnt down by the Swedes during the Swedish invasion, after reconstruction it passed into the hands of the Lubomirski family, Jerzy Marcin Lubomirski lost the castle to Mikołaj Piaskowski In 1783, however, neither he nor the owners of the Osłowski family were able to maintain the castle, they sold all the equipment, including the marble and walls, and the abandoned castle fell into ruin. 1931 Leon Kozłowski became the new owner, he renovated only two rooms in the tower but he prevented looting. After the Second World War, the property of the castle was so small that it was not subject to nationalization, and so Leon Kozłowski became the only owner of the castle in Eastern Europe after the Second World War. In 1975 the castle was bought by the Vistula Museum. The current condition of the castle requires a lot of money, the park is kept in good condition inside the castle or the museum I have not been because it is closed I made a photo documentation outside the building

The castle is interesting. Although it's just ruins, there are also other fantastic places. After entering the courtyard, you will see two entrances: the exhibitions and the cloisters. One currently (October 2020) presents dishes and models from the old history of the building. From the cloister, you will see a beautiful view of the castle and the ruins. It is the perfect place to take pictures. In addition to the beautiful fragments of the castle's base in red stripes and covered with an interesting texture, there is also a manor house of an 18th century family, beautifully decorated with wood (you can enter there, but due to the pandemic only a few rooms are open) on the top of the manor there are guest rooms that have an unusual atmosphere of the 18th century century. Unfortunately, they cannot be used in the current situation. In addition to the cottage, in the yard there is a beautiful park for walks and a granary with an exhibition about the transport of goods over the Vistula and a few boats from that time MN and Dlubanki. It is a pity that when I was there with my family it was foggy, which often happens in those areas. I recommend Z.S😘
