The building was erected in 1798 as a Uniate church. The brick building was built on an octagonal plan in place of the wooden temple. This temple was built in the mid-sixteenth century as an Orthodox church, equipped, among others by King Sigismund II Augustus. The building was located in the former church cemetery. After 1596, the church was taken over by the Uniates. After the dissolution of the Brest Union in 1875, it was handed over by the tsarist Orthodox authorities. In 1896, a rectangular nave with a tower was added to the building. The church was called by the Holy Miracle Workers of Cosma and Damian. After regaining independence in 1918, the authorities of Wysokie Mazowieckie decided to allocate the temple for firefighting equipment. It was not until June 1929 that the church was taken over by the Roman Catholic parish of St. John the Baptist, who designated the temple as a subsidiary church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. During renovation, the Byzantine style domes were replaced by the existing ones
