Evangelicals from Gorzów Śląski remained in the care of pastors from Bąków and Roszkowice for centuries. Due to the lack of church from 1834, the services were held at the local Evangelical school, which was built in 1802. The Evangelical parish in Gorzów Śląski was erected on April 1, 1852, and in 1853 she received the first permanent priest, pastor Carl Hernig. The parishioners decided to build their church, for this purpose six building plots were allocated in the city center. The cornerstone for the construction of the temple was laid on August 7, 1855, and in 1857 its construction was completed. Dedication of the church took place on October 8 and received the call of the Cross of Jesus. In 1857, the parish in Gorzów Śląski had 415 faiths, while in 1895 - already 1095. The last parish priest before World War II was the pastor Adolf Winkelmann, who escaped from the city in January 1945 against the advancing soldiers of the Red Army. From 1945, the parish life was organized by pastor Karol Klus. After leaving most of the evangelicals, both Gorzów Śląski and the whole of Upper Silesia, it became a branch church of the Evangelical parish in Kluczbork. In the 90s of the twentieth century, the church underwent a major renovation.
