The church was built in a social act by the residents of the Kokoszyce district in the years 1948 - 1950. Kokoszyce is a former medieval village. Its creation dates back to the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. It is recognized that here, on a large scale, the inhabitants raised poultry - hen, hen, hen, and also the village of kokosza. In the 16th century, the developing Wodzisław absorbed many surrounding villages, including Kokosha. The end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century was a period of religious division between Protestants and Catholic faithful. Kokosz were on the border of denominations. Most of the inhabitants were in favor of the Catholic religion and attended the Catholic church in Jodłownik. In this situation, at the initiative of Fr. Józef Bołde in 1948 the construction of a Catholic church began. The temple was built by the faithful on their own. The bottom for foundations was dug by hand, sand, gravel and other materials were shovels and carts, and spoil was removed. The church was consecrated in 1950 by bishop Stanisław Adamski. The interior design is the work of Józef Potempa - artist, architect from Krakow. I am delighted by the presbytery, full of light. The Blessed Virgin Mary is not standing on a column. She is placed on a heavenly ray of light, carrying her to the sky, which is open with a bright glow above her in this Presbytery.
