Łekno, Wągrowiec commune. THE FORMER CYSTERS MONASTERY. On the southwestern shore of the Łekneńskie Lake there is a small hill. This is the original place of the former Cistercian monastery. It was the first and oldest Cistercian monastery in Poland. They initiated a feudal rent system with us. This caused hostility and hatred of the inhabitants. The excavations show that at the beginning of their stay the order built a small stone church here and then a larger one with the monastery buildings. After two centuries, the order moved to Wągrowiec. Currently, the monastery area is heavily overgrown, the fence is damaged. If we don't cultivate history, history will forget about us.
