Years ago, the brick was burnt in this furnace, most of which were built in the villages of Załownicz, Rokitów, Zagroble, and maybe even in Turobin itself. This was done on the basis that the clay was obtained (dug) on its own plot. Clay on the pryźmie had to "season" for at least 1 year, and preferably 3 years. Later the invited residents helped each other to make bricks on special strychar slugs (sometimes in hand forms, but rarely). After the period of drying the so-called "pig iron" in airy, but shady and roofed shelters, the brick was subjected to thermal treatment through long-term firing. The furnace charge of the bricks was usually the production of several or a dozen or so farmers, with the heating material collected by them and delivered for firing - often it was wood from the so-called. community or servitute forests (granted to the inhabitants of a given village by noblemen - the then-current law still applies, although many villages have forgotten about it). The process of filling, firing and cooling the furnace itself lasted several weeks. He was always supervised by an experienced brick-firing machine (usually self-taught). In this way, "stone Poland" was built, and after the Second World War it was rebuilt. So many stories. And today it is only a technical historical curiosity worth visiting, the more that along the bike trail.
