In 1231 Konrad Mazowiecki handed the village of Ślesin to Poznań bishops. They owned it until the end of the 18th century. In 1358, the town was located here under the Środa law. The parish was erected in the 13th century and received a wooden church. In 1604, a brick church in the Gothic style was erected on the site of the destroyed temple. In 1900 a new, today's presbytery and two chapels were erected on the old foundations. The nave was thoroughly reconstructed in 1907. The walls and pillars were converted into a new reinforced concrete vault. Today's tower was erected, stained glass windows were made. So the current temple bears the hallmarks of a neo-Gothic style, covered with sheet metal. Gable roof. Consecrated in 1910. In the side altar there is a picture of St. Nicholas Bishop, oil on canvas, late baroque from the late eighteenth century. In 1978, the presbytery was adapted according to the project of priest. Tadeusz Furdyna SDB. In the nineties the decor of the presbytery was modified: 1995 a new altar and granite pulpit, new lighting; in 1997 new polychrome and gilding of side altars and chapels.
