I went here with my son and we loved it! It has a lot of models of ships covering the entire history of Portuguese navigation. Some are small but some are quite large and very detailed. The historical information was quite interesting. We particularly like the evolution of the weapons over time. There is also a section with full sized actual boats - not full-size Naus or anything, more like royal skiffs, one quite grand. Also, samples of actual cannons, ship guns, storage vessels for spices, uniforms, armor, etc. The ticket is quite cheap so WELL worth it. We spent about an hour and a half. Very enjoyable!
An amazing place if you like the history and boats. One of the World’s largest exhibition of boat models: from tiny ones to the men-sized ones. As a bonus you get to see few airplanes too. Also great cafe at the end of the museum. Definitely recommend! Entrance was 6€ and we spent there 1.5 hours.
This museum gives a very nice insight into the discoveries of the Royal Portuguese Navy - it explains how the Portuguese were able to be in the XVI century one of the biggest navy in the world.
Besides it has an exhibit of real boats. Very nice
Cause of covid 19 was alone.. gloomily had explanation in English. First part of history was well presented. Had a few videos running in a loop
Very interesting museum, nice staff. They responded to all my historic questions with a smile. Check the maritime adventure of the portuguese back in the days! There’s nothing better than travelling while educating yourself at the same time.
