Ca. 430 m uphill from town. The museum is well-built with a detailed video explaining the processes people once used when worked with limestones. The man at the reception was kind. I did not see much from the open-air museum either because I didn't find it or because what I've seen was all of it..? I doubt it. Anyways, the view from up there is good. However, I would suggest to go by car. If not, then choose the road which passes by the chapel on the hill. You will get a better view ;)

Interesting place to understand more about Madeira Island.

We walked here from our hotel Estalagem do a Vale, a long way, well worth it, great museum very interesting, very helpful informative staff. About the lime kiln and lime stone quarry. Thank you

A perfect place for Bird watching

Very interesting place to visit to learn about they built their houses with limescale rocks. Really nice!
