Menhires de Lavajo

Out in the middle of "nowhere", down a narrow gravel road, but it did have an informational sign. I find these ancient sites fascinating, but not a side trip for everyone.

The landscape is beautiful, you feel like in the middle of the desert and 2 stones standing next to you. Remote place after 3km of gravel road & very low maintenance of the site. The explanation board has been eraised by the wind & the wooden stairs are not very stable.

A devil to get to. Be careful if driving in. The road is not completely stable and you have to drive through 2 fords. When you eventually get there it is a little underwhelming (or maybe the journey made it feel like that).

Really beautiful place, the nature around is amazing, don't forget to take water with you, especially during summer as the place is very arid and hot.

Primitive in more ways than one. As a place of historical interest, it's barely adequately documented, in either Portuguese or English, but it's still fascinating.
