Museu Regional de Beja - Museu Rainha D. Leonor

A small regional museum housed in an old convent of Our Lady of the Conception. It is worth a visit, especially if you like late Gotic and Baroque architecture as well as tiles - there are beautiful azulejos everywhere, both blue and white (sometimes also yellow) in the Baroque style and also some late Gothic Moorish looking azulejos. Housing a beautiful marble head of Julius Caesar as well, one of the few made when he was still alive. Friendly staff and hopefully they'll be able to make renovations of the building soon enough, the place deserves some decent care and restoration.

A good surprise. Small but full of history related to Queen Leonor.

Interesting and costs only 2€.

The old church here has an impressive interior, but the rest of the exhibits in the museum tend to be dark and gloomy. None of the information boards have English translations, so much of the explanatory information is lost to non-Portuguese speakers. That said, the entrance fee is very cheap and includes the entrance to another museum.

Temporarily closed, tried to visit Wednesday afternoon and thos morning, both times the door said its temporarily closed.
