A smaller and nice museum about the whale hunting of Madeira

It is too focused on ways of capturing whales, but it also pays attention to environmental issues. However, it is very important part of local history and definitely its worthy to visit the museum.

The museum is very modern and interesting but unfortunately... It presents fake facts, at the same time being proud of doing this ocean slaughter years ago. I cant agree with this.

The first floor is dedicated to "the brave men who hunted whales" - although it actually was fascinating to learn about the hunting techniques and how they handled the whale after its death, the museum could and probably should have been more critical about this topic. The next floor is about whales as such, environmental protection and offers several 3 d movies. I watched one of them on the biology of whales and liked it. The audio guide was weird somehow, it kept starting and stopping apparently randomly. Was supposed to start by itself depending on where you are within the museum, but that meant you had to stand on one spot till the end of the audio or live with the fact that you'd get many starts. Would have preferred to listen to an audio of my choice while moving freely among the exhibits.
