It's interesting to go and learn about the history of the place, if you care about such things. Structure-wise there isn't all that much to see in the former monastery itself, as it's not very vast. Some very nice construction details inside though. Before reaching the structure you will go through a mini museum with some interesting exhibits and history bits, in which we spent more time than in the monastery. It's still one of the must-sees of Coimbra, so make sure to drop by.

This remounts to my teenager times when the monastery was always under water because of the floods. Nowadays a very organized museum with explanations very clear divided in various sections and precious pieces of pottery that the aristocratic ladies used to offer when entering to become nuns. Everything was rebuilt and one can see the stones which were part of the architecture. Watching the video in the museum gives us the perspective of the evolution of the monument. A must see!

Beautiful place and we were lucky enough to have the place all to ourselves. Worth it.
