We visited Faial as a stopover. Coming from Sao Miguel with SATA around noon, we were able to enjoy a very nice tour of the island with taxi-horta-faial (3:30 hours, 65 € (per trip, not per person!), Information in English) and us at the ferry terminal let go. There you can check in your luggage and then stroll relaxed through the city and harbor until the ferry leaves in the evening. A successful day that will not be remembered as a transfer, but as a wonderful experience.
