Proletarskoye Kladbishche

The Armenian cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in the city of Rostov-on-Don. The first burials here were made in 1749, at the foundation of the city of Nakhichevan-on-Don. In 1928, Nakhichevan-on-Don was introduced into the city of Rostov-on-Don and now it is the Proletarsky district. It covers an area of ​​14 hectares, and in its southeastern part an Armenian-Gregorian church was built in the name of Surab Karapet. The building is made of white stone and red brick and consecrated in 1881. This entire architectural complex was built according to the will of the noblewoman Akulina Pogosovna Aladzhalova, who died in 1871. Here rest A.P. Aladzhalova and St. Elder John Domovsky. The cemetery has preserved the most beautiful monuments, crosses, sculptures made of granite, marble and other valuable types of stone.
