The cemetery is part of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra ensemble. In 1861, the territory between the Neva and the monastery was assigned to a cemetery, abandoning plans to build a park on this place. The first mention of the burial "in the new cemetery, which is in the fence behind the cathedral" dates back to September 1863, when the widow of the former minister Sergei Timofeev was buried here. Since 1868 the cemetery was called Zasoborny, and in 1877 it was named Nikolskoe, after the church built in 1868-1871. The cemetery has received a clear, regular layout, which is softened by a shady pond with rounded banks. Nikolskaya path leads from the main entrance to the church and continues behind the bridge, forming a longitudinal axis. It is oriented towards the apse of the Trinity Cathedral, and thus the cemetery is included in a single architectural space of the Lavra ensemble. Cross paths cross the territory from the Monastyrka to the southern fence. At the beginning of the twentieth century. plots from the south and the east were cut to the cemetery, but the rectangular network of paths has been preserved. Nikolskoye cemetery was one of the most expensive and prestigious necropolises in the capital. Second half of the 19th century - flourishing of historicism in architecture. Notable at the Nikolskoye cemetery are the Art Nouveau monuments, which are characterized by the use of original finishing materials: majolica, mosaics, ceramic tiles in combination with polished granite and marble of various shades. Among those buried at the Nikolskoye cemetery are writers and artists, military leaders, journalists, scientists. The first Russian aviators were buried here. In a word, the place is quiet and calm ... People meet (!!!) kind and talkative ... Today, walking along the alleys of the cemetery and thinking about the meaning of our existence, I came across my grandmother, who immediately spoke to me very sincerely, and with she asked if I was a hooligan here and spoil other people's burial places ... A very vigilant person ... Sensitive and attentive ... I love this place where my thoughts come in order and the system of values smoothly passes into a different stage of development. .. Experiencing difficulties and loss of energy? Are you depressed and financially stagnant? Welcome to the Nikolskoye cemetery in St. Petersburg !!! 10 minutes walk and your well-being will improve significantly ... #Saint Petersburg, #CityContrasts, #ThisPiterBaby, #Mood, #Life, # LetsGuide, #
