Ivan Muracciole (Maind Framend) (11/11/2020)
The original name of the cinema was "Artistic Electro-Theater" [4] , although according to documents it was called "Broksha's Cinematograph" [5] . The building was undergoing rebuilding, restoration, reconstruction, was under bombing, and had to be demolished [5] . The first film show took place on November 11, 1909 [6] , it was the premiere of the film "Georgette" [5] . The reconstruction was planned to begin in 2010, then in 2011-2012, but due to the crisis, it began only in 2014 [7] . Since January 2014, it has been under restoration [8] , the completion date of which has already been repeatedly postponed [9] . In December 2018, debris was removed and a number of structures were reinforced, but the restoration itself has not yet begun. "One of these days, the opening of the Art Electro-Theater will follow" in a specially built building on Arbat Square. The auditorium for 400 seats and the foyer with a luminous fountain are artistically decorated. A grandiose screen in a luminous grotto. Orchestral symphonic intermissions conducted by I.G. Leskes. A separate publication will follow about the opening day ” [4] . Russkie vedomosti November 5, 1909 The initial project of a cinema for 400 people was carried out in 1909 by the architect N. N. Blagoveshchensky [11] . The cinema building was one-story with a dome [1] . It looked like a palace with pilasters, statues and columns [5] . There was a luminous fountain in the foyer [1] . A distinctive feature of this building was that it was originally built specifically to house a cinema, unlike many others that existed in Moscow before the revolution [12] . The plot of land and the building of the cinema was owned by the Varvarinskoe joint-stock company of homeowners , and the cinematograph itself belonged to Robert Albert Broksch [13][5] , and in the documents the cinema was listed as "Brox's Cinematograph" [5] . On November 5, 1909, on the first page of the newspaper " Russkiye Vedomosti " it was reported about the opening of the cinema [4] . On November 10, a note followed: “Today, November 10, at 5 pm, the opening of the" Art Electro-Theater "will follow, tel. No. 167-95b, on Arbat Square ” [14] . The first show at the cinema took place on November 11, 1909 [6] . The first films shown in the cinema were: "Georgette" - a drama performed by first-class Parisian artists , melodrama "Angel of Reconciliation" [15]and “Mother's Death Wish”, as well as some other species and comic pictures. " [16] The only cinema that carried out delivery of ordered tickets to the house [4] . There were residential buildings next to the building [5] . Apparently, the old style was outdated, Broksch seemed too classic, and therefore Albert ordered Shekhtel to reconstruct the cinema. It was strange: in three years - a new building, completely change everything, increase the number of seats, turn everything into a modern style. The style became completely neutral, the building became nondescript, all the more so it was painted in a gray-green color [5] " - Ruslan Bragin is a descendant of R.A. Broksh , November 2017 ... 4 years after the opening [17] The theater was purchased by the producer and director Alexander Khanzhonkov [1] , and because of the influx of visitors who want to join a new art form, was so great that in 1912 - 1913 GG the building of the cinema was rebuilt by the outstanding Moscow architect FO Shekhtel [18] in the spirit of modern times. The new cinema had steam heating, concrete floors, balconies and boxes [1] . The number of seats was increased to 900 [19] - 925 [1] (buildings that could accommodate up to 700 spectators were considered large theaters in Moscow at that time), and some features were given to the facade of the building antique classics [20] [21] . The cinema had a special booth for storing celluloid film [5] . It was located on the roof and, being upholstered with iron, resembled a safe [5] . It stood for a long time, even when it was no longer necessary, so it could not be removed [5] .

Five stars in advance - a cinema, thank God, is under reconstruction. Are looking forward to! I hope they will restore it in its original form. The legendary cinema, and even designed by the great Schechtel. I hope he does not become a clone of numerous modern gymnasiums, but retains his authenticity, repertoire and affordable prices even for a student.
