Kazach'ye Kladbishche

The Cossack cemetery, located in front of Holy Trinity Cathedral, received its name in 2009. Prior to that, it was called the "Communist platform." Here the participants of the defense of Petrograd, the victims of the Kronstadt rebellion, the old Bolsheviks, hereditary St. Petersburg workers, famous scientists and engineers are buried. The burial ceased in the late 1930s, but again resumed during the Great Patriotic War, when participants in the battle of Leningrad were buried. In total there are about 340 graves.

The cemetery on the territory of the laurel was called the Cossack summer of 1917, when the Cossacks who were killed during the suppression of the July attempt of the Bolshevik uprising were buried here. Under Soviet rule, prominent figures of the Red Movement were buried there, and the cemetery was nicknamed the "Communist platform". During the war many officers of the Red Army and Navy settled in the cemetery. Now the historical name has been returned to the necropolis, monuments to the Orthodox New Martyrs have been placed, and now it is an excellent illustration of the complex history of our country in all its manifestations.
