In Zlatoust, it was decided to put in order the old necropolis On the initiative of the head of the Zlatoust urban district, VA Zhilin, a discussion of the restoration of the historic city cemetery "Birch Grove" began. Perhaps this churchyard was one of the first and it was here that the founders of our city, representatives of the first artisan dynasties, honorary citizens and clergy were buried. This is the real history of our city, reflecting the period from the beginning of the 19th century to the 30s of the 20th century, when the cemetery was closed during the Soviet era and gradually destroyed. It keeps the memory of our ancestors, those who created and developed Zlatoust, the first masters who came here from European countries to develop handicrafts and mining business. The meeting was attended by: Bishop Vikentiy of Zlatoust and Satka, representatives of the municipal authorities, communal services, clergymen, historians, local historians, social activists. Addressing the audience, the head of Zlatoust V.A. Zhilin said: “There is no future without respect for the past. Work in this historical and memorable place has already begun, the masonry of the arch, which was originally here, has been restored. The project of the Zlatoust Necropolis complex has been created, which we will begin to implement this summer. It is important that our initiative was supported by representatives of the Zlatoust diocese. Step by step, we will restore this historical monument. This is important both from the point of view of upbringing and education, and in terms of creating tourist routes. This is a part of the great history of Chrysostom, and it is important to preserve it for our descendants. " As a result of the meeting, a decision was made to build a chapel in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God on the territory of the former cemetery.
