Statues doing what you see Turkish people doing everyday on the street, 15tl for a coffee. Tourist trap
In the museum there is a restaurant where in a special setting we enjoyed a tasty traditional food!
An ancient Cappadocia town Ortahisar, famous for its castle, which is the largest fairy chimney in the region, with its rock warehouses carved into the slopes of the valley called the southern citrus fruit store. The current settlement date back to the beginning of the 11th century. In the period when the migration from Central Asia to Anatolia began, Uzbek Turks from Khorasan and his 8 brothers Nevşehir Ortahisar Kalesiçevresine 9 houses made. These nine families are the first people to establish the first town of Ortahisar and to settle.
The earliest historical periods in Ortahisar were BC. 1500 Etiler, BC. The Phrygians in the 1200s, M. Ö. Periods ruled by Lycians and Persians in 657. B.C. 27 periods in Rome, M.S. Between the 4th and 10th centuries, the Byzantine dominated and the Malazgirt Victory in 1071 with the Turks have been. Ortahisar, the town in 1916, is the first place in Cappadocia to make tourism and has a cultural mosaic rich in many civilizations.
Ortahisar Castle - Nevsehir
Ortahisar Castle, identified with the name of the town, is also known as the biggest fairy chimney of Cappadocia. Just like a tower of Babel, the castle is one of the first known places of the world's multi-storey settlements and one of the hauntings of the Silk Road caravans. The rocks where Ortahisar Castle, surrounded by steep valleys on three sides, are carved by Etiler for the purpose of protection and asylum in ancient times when wars were abundant. Later, it was used as a shelter in the time of Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks and Ottomans. The first settlement of the town began in the castle, as the population increased over the slopes of the lower levels of the 2-storey new houses were made.
Nevsehir Ortahisar Castle was added to the Ottoman lands in 1470 by order of Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror. It is said that Ishak Pasha Castle, also called the small Ortahisar Castle, which appears on the eastern side of the fortress, is related to the conquest of Ortahisar Castle. Namely; Fatih Sultan Mehmet sends Ishak Pasha to the region to solve the Karaman problem. As soon as Ishak Pasha arrives, he wants to get to Urgup Castle called Temenni Hill. When it comes to the conquest of Ortahisar Castle, the people go to protection against İshak Pasha and close the entrance of the fortress with the big mill stones. When Ishak Pasha realizes that he cannot enter the castle in this way, he digs tunnels under the ground and enters the tunnels and conquers the castle. At the entrance of Ishak Pasha Castle, it is said that the tar well was opened in the conquest of Ortahisar Castle.
Uchisar Castle in the region compared to the smaller, but the more steeply and higher the castle, the foreigners have worn the name of the castle. With an altitude of 1,200 meters and a height of 86 meters, the distance of the Ortahisar Castle, which is one of the highest in Cappadocia, from the north to the ground is 80 meters. Inside the castle are carved into interconnected tunnels, rooms and corridors. Although it is difficult to climb up the hill with a staircase, it has a relieving effect with the view of the old villages and valleys. Urgup, Avanosve Goreme from the top of the castle, where a huge rock mass was carved into an old-fashioned skyscraper in ancient times, is fascinated by its bird's-eye view. There are cafes in the castle.
Ortahisar Castle Entrance Fee
