Gerede Keçi Kalesi

Gerede Keçi Castle, located on a hill dominating the surroundings in Arkut Mountain, has been in existence since the Bithynians period. There is an interesting rumor about the name of the castle, which was restored in 1993.nnAccording to the legend, when there was an attack, the people took their goods and animals and took refuge in the castle and defended themselves from there. When the food shortage started after an attack that continued for days, the people here had an idea. One night they lit candles on the horns of all the goats in the castle and let the goats out. In the darkness of the night, the enemy saw these goats as a great army coming on them and fled. In this way, the people were saved and the castle started to be known as the Keçi Castle.

The accessible outer walls were reconstructed 25 years ago and show the spacious castle area. It's a shame that only this can be seen - the interior is probably still waiting for archaeological development. An information board would be helpful to pass on the information about the castle to the tourist. The path to the castle could be expanded to promote tourism. One has a good look at talk.
