A nice museum with lots of photos explaining the details of Ataturk's visit to Rize in 1924
Located in the Mufti Quarter of Rize Center, It is a Museum Established on a Building that was started in 1920 and was completed in 1921. The Building, Built According to the Features of 20th Century Turkish Architecture and Planned Type with Interior Sofa, is a Three Storey Mansion. When Atatürk came to Rize during his country trip in 1924, he stayed in this house as the guest of Mehmet Mataracı. The Building was Donated to the Special Provincial Administration by the Mataracı Family on the 100th Anniversary of Atatürk's Birth for Transforming it into a Museum. The building was put into service under the name of “Rize Atatürk's House Museum” on 27 December 1985 after Reservation. Some Items of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk are exhibited in the museum. In addition, Ethnographic Artifacts Extracted from the Region are Exhibited in These Museums. There Is A Large Garden To The North Of The Mansion. Inscriptions and Tombstones are exhibited on the ground floor. Traditional Weaving Tools And Other Ethnographic Items Are On The First Floor. On the Second Floor, Atatürk's Personal Belongings and Photographs of the Turkish War of Independence are exhibited.
During our visit to Atatürk House on the occasion of the 95th Anniversary of Gazi Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK's arrival in Rize, our former Customs Minister Tuncay Mataracı, gentleman of the living grandchildren of Mataracı Mehmet Efendi, one of the elders of our city, who hosted Atatürk in his own house in 1924 and donated it after it became a museum, Rize We took a souvenir photo with our mayor Rahmi Metin and my colleague Ms. Sevgi. I wish God's mercy on all our martyrs, veterans and elders who served this homeland, especially ATATÜRK.nnNote: You can enter free of charge with the museum card.
It is a very old museum, its value is indisputable.
When Atatürk honored Trabzon for the first time on 15-17 September 1924, he was entertained in the mansion which was organized as Trabzon Museum on this day.
