The Museum, which was put into service in 1996 in the Old Town Hall, which was used as a Headquarters in the War of Independence after the First World War in Balıkesir. Written Decisions Taken by 41 People Who Pioneered the Establishment of National Cuba in Balıkesir on the Ground Floor of the Two-Storey Museum, the Decisions of the Congress, Their Personal Belongings, Photographs and Photographs Taken When Atatürk Arrives in Balıkesir; On the Second Floor, Archaeological and Ethnographic Artifacts Uncovered in Balıkesir are exhibited. The Museum Building was built in 1840 as the mansion of Giridizade Mehmet Pasha, the Defderdar of Karesi Banner. This building, which is of great historical importance, was used as the 2nd Corps Headquarters for a long time due to the fact that the Balikesir people gathered in this building on the day after the occupation of Izmir and took the decision to fight armed in Western Anatolia. The building was restored after being used as a municipal service building between 1947-1988 and turned into a museum. The Museum Directorate was established in 1987. The Museum was put into service on September 6, 1966, after the restoration and collection of artifacts were completed.
