If you are planning to visit Turkey, I would recommend to visit Selcuk , a small city about 70km from Izmir. Here you will find old roman and other civilization's remains. Selcuk has plenty of hotel options , so you can stay there instead of staying in Izmir.nGrotto of seven sleepers is one of them. There is no entry ticket or fees to visit these caves.

As a historian, I felt I needed to visit this place and compare its story in the biblical sources and the Qur’an.nThe place is very easy to find, but you will need a car.nThere is no entrance fee.nThe cave itself has been converted into a church, and this is why you can see many graves for monks around the place.

The place is on a hill side with an ancient excavated chapel/church/cathedral that was expected to be the place famous where the seven grotos were buried.nThe place require you to climb a hill and you can watch the excavated place with the open graves and move down to gaze on the ancient entrance.nThe bottom of the hill has several turkish restaurants.

Historical location for the grotto of seven sleeper - Ashab AlKehf ....In Quran the seven young men who slept 309 years .... Some say this grotto or cave located in Jordan .nThe location needs more attention from government , however is nice to visit this location .

Another historical ruins in and around the surrounding area of Ephesus. Access is easy and the place is not busy. Short walk on the dirt uphill so not suitable for those with difficulty walking. The actual caves were gated off when I visited but still can get a glimpse from above and also through the bars. For such a historical place I am surprised it is not secured and maintained. It’s simply open to all without any site preservation in place.
