Burgaz Ada .. I think it is the cutest of the islands. Especially when I climb the hiristo hill, the neglect of this church is abandoned ... It always hurts me. There used to be a family. I don't know why they left there, what happened. Daffodils were blooming when I came last .. Even though it was winter, the garden was cute and sweet.

Theokoryphotos (Transfiguration of the Prophet Jesus), a Byzantine monastery, is located on the summit of the Hristos (Jesus) Hill, as the name says. Although not confirmed by Byzantine sources, legend has it that the monastery was founded by the Macedonian Emperor Basil I (tks 867-86) on the ruins of an ancient Greek temple.nnAt the end of the 18th century, the monastery was abandoned and became a ruin. From the monastery to the present, a two-storey structure built in the 18th century with a church built in the 19th century has remained, as well as the ruins and architectural remains of the previous buildings, which are scattered throughout the old monastery area. Inside the entrance to the monastery site are a number of ancient architectural remains, including four beautifully carved Byzantine capitals.nnWithin the borders of the monastery region, there are still four huge arched underground cisterns that collect rain water even today.nnThe view from the top is wonderful: all the Islands and Asian beaches can be seen. Greeks and others still, Hz. They come to the church on August 6 to remember the panigirium of the Transfiguration of Christ (the festival held in memory of the saint who gave the church its name); this event used to be celebrated with music and dancing at the top of the hill.nnThe Greek cemetery is just above the monastery area. The tiny church in the cemetery was dedicated to Hagios Profitis Illias, whose temples were always built at the top of the hills.nnSource:nw w w.adalarturizm.or g / cms / tr / component / k2 / item / 89-burgazada-hristos-hill-and-monastery
