Next to the former Edirne train station building is the Treaty of Lausanne Monument and Museum. The monument, was built in 1998.The Treaty of Lausanne was signed in Switzerland in 1923 and defined the borders of the modern Turkish Republic.nThe monument consists of three concrete columns in different sizes.nThe highest column represents Anatolia, the middle Thrace (the European part of Turkey) and the last Karaağaç. The ring that connects the columns symbolize the unity of the Turkish Republic.nIt's an interesting place-monument with a lot of meanings.

A symbol of long lasting war and its end. The treaty means peace for me though many in the country criticizes it. Its on the Karaagac town, the only piece of land west of the River Meric which constitutes the border between Greece and Turkey.

It is out of the center but it has a beautiful atmosphere there.nAt the weekend, it might be crowded. So I don't recommend you to go there at the weekend.nYou have to be there before 19.00 if you wanna visit. Because it is not allowed to walk in there after that time.nAn important note: if you have pollen allergy, do not go there in spring!

Interesting piece of art but rather remote and isolated from rest of town.
