The appearance of this temple is very exquisite. Sculptor designed every small place with a lot of care. Outside the temple, there is a stone male lion and a lioness. We can touch their heads to pray for peace.nnAs soon as I walked in, the exquisite carvings and decorations inside made me stunning! Among them, a decoration called octagonal-spider-web ceiling is particularly attractive! The dark green color gives the feeling of solemn and beauty to me. This temple mainly worships the Cheng Huang god, who blesses people's peace and smoothness.nnThis is also a place that you must to visit when you come to Hsinchu! In addition, there are many delicious snacks around the temple, and it is very cheap!

This temple is really amazing, it's not only the oldest temple in Taiwan but also the most famous one in Hsinchu City. There's also many great food stands around the temple. Oh, and the architecture designs inside of the temple is very fascinating, with various drawings of many animals, additionally, there is also a pair of stone lions located somewhere in the temple, take a close look at it, you may found something interesting. Don't miss this site when you visit Hsinchu!
Chenghuang Temple is Hsinchu’s busiest place of worship as well as a favorite place to eat for the locals. The temple’s front hall has been turned into a lively food court where scores of eateries cram every available inch of space. Traditional Taiwanese opera is often performed on the courtyard. You should also take the time to look for the depictions of hell on the walls inside the temple. The whole place is very photogenic.
So I ventured to this temple as well. Historic place but the setup is intriguing.nnSame story as the other temple: strong, if not solely, representation of spirit underworld characters but practically none from the heaven realm. Very, very odd. Why are people comfortable to worship and make offerings to what clearly appear to be spirit underworld characters. Isn't one supposed to be worshiping something less shady? It just doesn't seem right.nnVery stark contrast to temples in other parts of Asia.
