I used Kaohsiung from Taipei and Taipei from Kaohsiung. High-speed trains can be reached in 1 hour and 30 minutes each way, but if you have the time, the price is less than half the price. Besides, it costs 640 yuan one way except weekends and main hours. There are only 2 rows of seats (although there are 3 rows), and in terms of airplane, it is a seat equivalent to business class or higher. There was no water or snack service as it was during the corona period, but there was free water in the waiting room. There is a monitor in the company, but only in Chinese. You can charge your mobile phone via USB. It depends on the departure time, but it is about 4 to 4 hours one way. It's cold inside the car, so we recommend wearing heavy clothes.
