Presidential Office Building

As long as you are being respectful (high security area) they genuinely provide you with the best experience touring the building, arranging guide for free; the admission is free as well. Very informative. No forced sell at the gift shop (although it does have quality stuff). Not at all a tourist trap. Highly recommended!

This is a really beautiful building with lots of architectural details. It looks good during the day, but also looks amazing at night when it's lit up. Signs on the boulevard in front of the building point tourists to the best spots to take pictures.

Make sure you take time to see the Doublen10 show, which runs every half hour fromn1900-2200 through 10/10. Such an inspiring light show that brought tears to our eyes and made us proud to call Taiwan our temporary home! Pre show broadcast was in Chinese and English, ample seating available. Show lasted 11 minutes.

Government office building which houses exhibits about the founding of Taiwan and its political history. On New Years and certain special days they have open house with free (Mandarin) tours. They also extend their opening hours. Non-open house hours are from 9:00 to 12:00. Open house hours are from 9:00 to 15:00. The exhibits are well made with good descriptions that provide a brief understanding of the history. It is updated to modern day. There's a hall for past and current presidents. A hall for Sun Yat Sen. There's also a tiny farmer's market at the end of the trip. A nice garden is situated in the middle which makes for a good break.
