Temple worships Guangong or Guang Yu who was born in AD 160 and who was a historical loyal fighter, although the modern religious followers consider him to be a prayer-benefit giver and, above all, protector of honest businessmen who emphasize integrity and trust. In Taiwan, Guangong is worshipped by businessmen for their beliefs if his protection of their business interest. Because Guangong was believed to be an all-mighty fighter, the Temple does not have painting if any door God's on its door, when Temple's followers believe Guangong alone can protect the Temple.nnWusheng Temple basically worships the same God as Hsing Tian Kong Temple in Taipei.nnThe Temple was built in 1760, and it was designated as historical building by Taiwan government. However, original temple structure was completely burned down in 1853 due to lare scale of early immigrant fight and was rebuilt in 1868. In 1999, the temple was damaged in September earthquake and was rebuilt again and finished rebuilding in 2002.nnWhen writer visited the temple, it was the 14th of January per Chinese Farmer Calendar, and the temple had about 15 chanting group members with small Chinese classic chantting orchestra for it's 5-day annual praying service as 11th to 15th of January per farmer calendar. It was a rare temple chantting service group in current Taiwan society when younger generation does not involve in religious service as dedicated as their parents generation.nnThe Temple generally holds semi-annual Spring and Autumn worship festival from January 10 to January 15 (Spring) and June 20 to June 24 (Autumn). There is also worship parade on January 12 per farmer calendar.nnWusheng Temple is also located at Xinchuang Temple Street and is in 2 minutes walking distance from Xinchuang CiYou Temple. Visitors from Taipei direction can take MRT Yellow or O Line and get off at Xinchuang Station (O18) and use Exit 2 to walk to Xinchuang Temple Street.
