Definitely far from Taipei but is it worth the ride? If you do not know the story behind the village's artistic appearance, then no. If you do, indeed worth the hours of ride. Grandpa was there when I visited the place and it's been a nice day seeing the person who made such a wonderful place be so accommodating on the tourists.

If you're in the area, this is worth checking out! It is a bit smaller than I anticipated, but is filled with lots of colorful murals that seem larger than life. It's a fairly quick visit, even when stopping to take pictures, so I would only recommend coming out here if you have a car or an easy way of transport. Otherwise, with how long it takes to get here with public transport, it may not be worth it. Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be different.

Super cool place. Went there with wife and daughter and everyone really enjoyed it. Even got the chance to take a couple pictures with the guy who started it all!

When I went here I didn't expect this place to be a small and tiny space, but it's really quick, if you don't take too much photos or observing, then you can finish this within 10 minutes less even! But it sure is a pretty place, full of paintings and basically colorful just like the village name. There is no entrance fee, you can see the granpa who started this all, you can buy his arts or take photos with him (need to give donation), they also sell some merchandises and some drinks. Due to high popularity, I guess this place sure is one of the place you can put on your list when visiting Taichung.

I absolutely loved looking at all the artwork and paintings. If you can get there early, that is best. By 9am it was full of people and was too crowded to enjoy the buildings and take pictures. There are some parking spots, but they are very limited, so again early is best.
