It’s one of a hidden gems in Houtong.
It was a Japanese shrine while Japanese occupation period, then it turned to be a ruin, so there are only 2 gates and a base of shrine.
It’s good for a destination for hiking in order to scenery. At that time some hikers were resting when I visited.
All that's left are stairs, the torii, and some remnants of the shrines foundation. Everything else is gone or has been replaced by a shelter built atop the hill. The stone lanterns, I believe, are probably modern additions. Still it's quite interesting to see this relic of Taiwan's Japanese past. Great place to go for Japanese history afficisnados.
Go up the hill, there's a good view. Not much left to see, only a shelter.
