Location
It is located in the center of Kobizhcha Street, 121. This valuable architectural monument has a long and interesting history and is protected by the state (security code 631). The oldest church in Slobozhanshchyna, the only one on the Left Bank, built of wood without a single nail. The church is made of pine. Oak stands were partly preserved under the central log cabin. Log buildings erected in 1867 - on brick foundations. The original is a central octagonal blockhouse and a five-walled altar.
History
It is known that the first priest of this temple, John was consecrated in 1701. Another Sunday priest, Stephen, died in 1709. The area under that building reached 590 square meters. fathoms. A fire of the late 18th century destroyed the church. The oldest surviving record in its metric was made in 1742 by the priest John Ivanovich Skurka. According to a document in 1783, the church "does not require repairs." Thus, it burned between 1783 and 1789. After the royal authorities decided in 1788 to close the monastery of the Predtechen Deserts, Michael's landlords, General - Major A.G. Ivanenko and Major IS Miklashevsky donated one of the monastery churches, the Repossession of Our Lady to the Temple, for the reconstruction of the fire destroyed by the Resurrection Church in Swan. Its construction was completed in 1789 due in large part to the efforts of the priest Gregory Shkursky. In the church metric we read: "On" "the place of the burned-up church was resurrected under the priest Gregory Shkursky. The church was built in 1789 by the "parishioners of the congregation" and the "diligence of the priest Grigory Shkursky." In the document of the Sumy regional archive we read that the church was originally a single throne, "wooden, in three chapters, in one throne, the heads are covered with white iron, painted with green paint, windows big and small 24, doors four, a wooden bell, especially from the church built in one chapter. " In the report of the bishop of Slobidsko-Ukrainian and Kharkiv in 1816, she was told: "strong, under a new roof."
Later, the church became three throne: the Resurrection, the Transfiguration and St. Basil the Great. In 1867 it was reconstructed - "corrected and expanded by the device of devices", in 1880 in the pride-roofs erected, and in 1881 dedicated to the altar. At the same time the bell tower was connected to the church. It was on an iron foundation, with an iron roof, with a bell tower. In 1906 the "stone fence with an iron lattice" was built. The capital of the church in 1904 was 614 rubles. In 1913, the temple was insured for 14.5 thousand rubles.
