This is the oldest, Orthodox Church of B-Dniester, the Church of St. John the Baptist. The people of Greek, because was founded by the Greeks tentatively in the 13th century. Here, from the side of the estuary, a fragment of the remains of an old building or an underground church is visible.

The Greek church in Belgorod-Dniester was built in the 13th century by the Greeks. Looking at it today, one involuntarily gives the impression that the church bears little resemblance to an ancient shrine. However, archaeologists and historians claim that the temple is unique. There is information that in the same place in the 3rd century there was a Christian church. In general, the church is small, but it gives the impression of a massive and majestic building. The temple was consecrated in honor of John the Baptist. In the 15th century, the Greek Church was the residence of the Byzantine exarch in the Moldavian principality. During the reign of the Turkish conquerors, the temple was thoroughly destroyed and restored only in the 16th century. In the 19th century a small bell tower was built, which still exists. The beauty of the whole church is emphasized by the soft blue color of the walls, which looks beautiful against the blue sky. Today the Greek Church belongs to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
