Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin
Виталий Владимирович (05/14/2019)
Church of St. Peter and Paul. 1887. (UOC) In 1691 the priest was Nikita Popovich. Records on church books testified that Oktoikh bought Ivan Zayats, but in another hand it was written that he bought this book Yatsko Popovich. The trefolionion was bought by Stefan Komarnytskyi in the village of Bagnovatoy in Lviv region in 1661. The apostle bought Nikolai Korniy with his wife Theodosia and six sons on May 18, 1709 for the pastor of the priest Peter M. Mittikovich. The triode was bought by Andrei and Grits with his squads on January 9, 1708. In 1733 they recall the beautiful wooden church of St. John with three bells. The following year Count E. Shenborn achieved the right to hold in the Lower Veretsky Bazaar, and the church gave privilege - to receive income from the bazaar. In 1778, the priest Andrew Covordani received from the government 30 Forints and served also 21 local Roman Catholics. The clergymen complained to the priest, in particular, they accused him of building a vineyard in the vineyards of the old church in Mukachevo. In 1784 in the Lower Gates, on a high bank over Latoritsya, a wooden Boykovskaya church with three peaks and an open gallery was built. It stood until 1893 when the priest Mikhail Bachinsky completed the construction of the stone church, begun in 1860 at the expense of Count Schenborn. About the construction of a new stone church in 1839, when even discussed its size (the bishop believed that the temple should be 16 yards in length, and the local prefect Daniel Fraisezen said that the population of the parish and the branches reaches 1145 people and the length should be to be 20 yards), but the then priest Mikhail Glyud, who had been living in a semi-detached house for 20 years, offered to build a headlight and a school at first. New stone lamp was built in 1840 The wooden church, which stood south of the stone wall, was disassembled. Described this Boyko church T. Legotsky (in his book "The monograph of Berezka Zhepa" contains a rather fantastic figure of the Boyko church), V. Scherbakovsky and A. Stranky. In the wooden temple there was an interesting wooden chandelier in the form of a two-headed eagle and a good oil painting of considerable size, depicting the impressive scenes of the Last Judgment. They say that the Boyik church was of a large size, because the tree from it went to the construction of a Baroque church in the village of Novaya Roztoka and the construction of a cottage in the Lower Gates. According to the memoirs of Mikhail Sinkulinets, the first church, as told, stood on the left bank of Latoritsy (now - the Embankment) and disassembled it, the second stood on the spot of the present school, and the third - on the site of the present church. About the scale of work in the construction of the present stone basilica say the following figures: the width of the foundation reaches from one and a half to two meters, it was imported 800 cubic meters of stones and 100 thousand bricks, to the turban moved two bells from the old church weighing 600 kilograms each. From the old church were moved also the pristola, iconostasis and other equipment. The iconostasis preserved an inscription in Latin, according to which the iconostasis was established in August 1811 by the pastor Alexander Covordani. The decoration of the temple was carried out by the efforts of the priest Legezis. The consecrated temple was completed in 1889. In 1912 the community commissioned a Uzhgorod casting bell with a weight of 1270 kg. The two old bells were requisitioned at the beginning of the First World War and were replaced by two new 650-kilogram bells after the war. In 1943, the local pastor Stefan Kopik, during wartime, organized the drawing of the temple, which was performed by Dmitry Meshko. Near the church is a peculiar brick chapel. The church belongs to the Orthodox community, and Greek Catholics rule in the garden. In 1998, on the feast of St. Peter and Paul on Verkhovyna Street blessed the cross on the site where a new Greek Catholic church will appear.
