The Holy Znamensky Nunnery, the village of Verbovskoye, prayers say about such places. Far from the noisy megacities, traffic jams, endless stresses and difficult ecology, the Znamenskaya Desert, formerly the Razulnoye farm, is located. Here, in a picturesque area, where just a couple of times a week, the old "groove" gets on schedule, cleanliness, silence and peace reigns. Few people know, but at the very beginning of the 20th century, the convent was unusually rich, perhaps the richest in the South-East of Ukraine. The monastery numbered 700 inhabitants, its summer temple could accommodate up to 5 thousand people, the nuns themselves built a brick factory on which they burned bricks for the construction of new roads, churches and buildings, the property of the Znamenskaya desert totaled 500 hectares of land, there was also a candle factory icon painting workshops, several windmills, a bakery and an oil mill. The sisters grew very valuable varieties of wheat, had three ponds in which fish were bred. At the monastery there was a huge garden with special varieties of fruit trees and flowers brought from abroad. And many building materials were delivered from India, Egypt and other countries. But! Further, as always and everywhere after 17 years. Looting Persecution. A gym was built in the church, schools were built in the buildings, and in 1945 the magnificent Transfiguration Cathedral was blown up altogether. In the 60s, people left the monastery for their needs for the needs of the monastery, the monastery was a ruin overgrown with bushes, weeds and old trees, litter lay around ... And since the 90s, there has been a continuous and painstaking recovery process. Only 16 nuns, many of whom are far from old age, bit by bit restore the blue pearl and see how great they get it. Well, by the way, I’ll say that those who think that life in a monastery is an escape from oneself and worldly problems are deeply mistaken. Here people are subject to passions and temptations, even more than worldly ones, and the schedule of their life requires incredible efforts of will and complete submission. I’ll skip the schedule for those who live poorly or are tired: Daily routine at Znamensky Nunnery Weekdays: 5.30 - rise. In the monastery, this moment is called the “mallet” - by the name of the wooden church attribute by which the nuns awaken. Impacts with a mallet should remind the nuns of the mournful moment of the crucifixion of Christ. 6.00 - 7.00 - monastic rule (prayer in the temple) 7.00 - 9.00 - obedience (labor) 9.00 - 9.40 - morning meal 9.40 - 13.00 - obedience or prayer (depending on the age and health of the nuns) 13.00 - 13.40 - lunch meal 13.40 - 16.00 - obedience, prayer, short rest 16.00 - 17.00 - monastic rule 17.00 - 18.30 - obedience, prayer 18.30 - 19.10 - evening meal 19.30 - 21.00 - monastic rule 22.00 - going to bed. Ps. Another interesting thing is that one girl journalist conducted an experiment. She agreed with the abbess to live in this monastery for three days. So according to her stories, this is not at all a simple matter. Firstly, a very strict regime, there is absolutely no time for myself. Secondly, for example, to withstand a typical six-hour Sunday service, while keeping the camp, stay awake, do not yawn, do not roll from one foot to another, and even make sure your fingers are compressed quite strongly performing the sign of the Cross, is not easy without proper dexterity. Without a special blessing, no one will speak with you about life outside the walls of the monastery. Each nun must read at least 100 prayers to himself and every day at least 5 times) And of course, hard work, and hard work (there’s always something to do with weeds that need to be pulled out) try to keep up with the nuns born in 30–40, many of them live in the monastery for 15–20 years at this pace.

It’s not enough to come here once. Especially a person who is not churched. Come, learn to hear and listen to silence. You can hear the unexpected, unusual and very pleasant. It's scary to write, but can it be Grace?
