Located near the western border of the Russian Empire, Lutsk was an important military stronghold. Religious forces were forced to make religious missions initially in temporary chapels. It was not until the late 19th century, when intensive construction was observed, that churches for the military began to be built. One of them was a regimental church, erected on the outskirts of the city opposite the former railway track station, next to the barracks of the Engineering Department, which housed the 2nd brigade of the 11th Regiment of the Infantry Division.
We learn about the history of church construction from the solemn sermon of the charitable, archpriest Father K. Maximovich on the occasion of consecration of the temple. Permission to build the temple was granted on June 12, 1897. It was at this time, for the purpose of inspecting temples in Lutsk, that the Most Eminent Modest (Strelbytsky), Archbishop of Volyn and Zhytomyr, who in a solemn setting, laid the foundation of the temple. The construction of the church took exactly eight months. The consecration of the temple was performed by the same lord - Archbishop Modest on February 12, 1898. According to Ukrainian historians of architecture, the pseudo-Russian style did not correspond to local artistic traditions, and was therefore regarded critically. He did not suit the Polish public and the Polish authorities, in whose hands the church later became. After the transfer of the structure in 1935-1936 to the Polish army, there was a need not only for a functional adaptation to the Latin rite, but also for a change in its architectural style. The church was renamed the garrison church called MB Krolowej Polski w Lucku.
However, the image of the temple, specific to the Western traditions, could not be changed without its radical reconstruction. For its implementation, a committee was set up under the direction of President of the District Court T. Giedroyc.
The development of the Brigade Church reconstruction project was entrusted to Professor Galenzovsky. The project changed so much the space and structure and even the plan of the building that one should not try to identify the ancient church in the church. This was one of the tasks of the poet. The main facade was reminiscent of an over-extended flat portal with large articulations accentuated by the middle entrance and auxiliary laterals. Above it, two quadrangles with large slits of the tower with slender multi-tiered ends rose to a height of 36 m. The restructuring had to be started without sufficient funds from the cities and the garrison. It was assumed that they would be found later for interior decoration. Fortunately, however, by September 1939, many of this crucial project had failed. During the Soviet Union, the church was used as a military club and a museum of martial glory, since until 1992 it was on the territory of the Guards Sevastopol Order of Lenin and Kutuzov of the II degree of the strategic division. In connection with national and spiritual revival, in the spring of 1991 a religious community was created, which took steps to restore the temple and use it for its intended purpose. On August 15, 1991, the Bishop of Lutsk and Vladimir-Volyn Mykola (Grokh) approved the Statute of the religious community of Prince Alexander Nevsky Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
The best church and choir is also the best.
