A wonderful historical and architectural monument; ancient crosses. It is a pity that it was not possible to get inside.

Very picturesque wooden ancient church, inside - the iconostasis of the XVIII century. Around the church, in a fenced area, there are old fireplace tombstones. Probably, the church of St. Paraskeva Friday in 1733 was moved from a nearby monastery to the place where the church of St. Basil the Great used to stand. Therefore, there are differences in the name, officially - the church of St. Basil the Great (in the village there are three churches with that name), and the locals call the church of St. Paraskeva. Located near the road Lviv - Ivano-Frankivsk.

A unique monument of architecture. Inside the iconostasis of the 16th century. Unfortunately, time and lack of care make their destructive work ... Have time to visit there.

Ancient temple needs restoration and care !!! "In all official documents, the ancient church has the name Basil the Great and is given with two dates:" XVI Century, 1733. So, in the 1500s, it already existed. The village of Cherche is very ancient. In the royal lustration, which describes all the items that belonged to the royal lands, it was mentioned as early as 1564-1565, and at that time the church was already in the village. Most likely, these references concerned the church of St. Basil the Great, which stood where the wooden temple now stands, but it either decayed or burned, and then in 1733 the church of St. Paraskeva was moved from a nearby monastery. At the same time, Paraskeva Church received a new official name. The practice of church transfer was quite common, and the doorways had previously indicated memorable dates in the history of the church, such as its transfer or repair. " The ancient history of the place where the village of Cherche originated is connected with the church of Paraskeva. "The name 'Church' is a abbreviation of 'monk,'" says Stepan Pushkar. - In the same royal lustration, the village was called Chernche - most likely it was formerly called Chernche, but over time two letters fell out. In the village no one will tell you "monk" - everyone says "monk". Although there is no documentary confirmation of the existence of the monastery in this place, there is a legend that the village of Cherche originated on the lands that belonged to that ancient monastery. People from generation to generation have narrated oral history, and even today the children in the village will tell you that there was once a Monastery of Paraskeva Friday on that hill. ”
