The first mention of Petro-Pavlivka Khorol church dates from 1747 year. Obviously, this temple, like all the other temples of Horol, was originally wooden. Peter and Paul Cathedral - 1747 (date of foundation) The Peter and Paul Church was built in 1885. According to historical chronicles, it was a stone, three-throne temple in conjunction with the same bell tower. The central throne in the name of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, and the other two left and right in the name of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky. The first priest here was Athanasius the Prisoner, and Zachary Parkhomenko was named the head of the church. Church choir managed Gregory Nicholas. What was the grandeur of this temple? It is enough to imagine the erected three churches (three thrones and altars). The rest of the temples, except the Cathedral Church of the Assumption, were ordinary, one-throne. The Peter and Paul Church also had a library and a church-parish school. During the artificial famine of the 1930s in Ukraine, the Peter and Paul Temple was used by the then government as a grain warehouse. Since then began its gradual destruction and complete annihilation. In 1996, a new page in the activity of the Peter and Paul Church was turned over - the construction of a new temple. The progress was not easy. At the very beginning and should not rely on any assistance. It was necessary with Christian patience to simply withstand and not succumb to the numerous provocations of the enemies, many of whom later became our adherents and friends. Crazy, wild, rampant misinformation about our church has been shamefully failed. Church began successfully upset only in 2000. Small donations and assistance were provided by OJSC “Khorol Mekhzavod” (director MI Mishchenko, director of bone plant OD Vyshnevsky, village chairman of the Old Avramivka Alexander Gazenko. Gradually the number of parishioners who realized the difference between the Kiev and Moscow Patriarchs increased. Mayor OI Nikolenko helped us to move from the construction wagon to a spacious house, which was converted into a temple in three months. In parallel, the construction of the foundation for the new temple continued. Sisters from the United States, Messrs. Victor and Vera Garkushi (from Khorol) and Mr. Vasyl Lutsenko (originally from Kotelva) have initiated a donation for the construction of the Petro-Pavlovsk Temple among the fellow-Ukrainians of the United States. to all good people, we do not lose hope that the holy cause of the restoration of the Peter and Paul Temple will be successful, despite the difficulties and lack of funds.Who is now easy? warriors. That is why memorial services are held annually in our Peter and Paul Church for soldiers killed in war and peacetime.
