The Church of St. Nicholas in Dykanka is the ancestral church-tomb of the Kochubey family. The church was built in 1794 by Count V. Kochubey on the territory of the count's estate, on the site of an old wooden church of the 17th century. According to legend, at this place was a stump on which appeared the icon of Nicholas the Wonderworker. Before this image, M. Gogol's mother prayed for the health of her future son, and named the child in his honor. At construction of the Nikolaev church arch. N. Lviv used the style of Moravian rotunda temples. The inner volume is covered by a complex system of double domes with petals of glass frames, which open in summer. When the singers sing in the choirs, it seems that the sound comes down from heaven. Also a unique system of air heating and ventilation. Preserved iconostasis of stained oak, fragments of the original painting. The gate belfry is made in the style typical of Catholic churches. In the basement there is a crypt with original sarcophagi, in which several generations of Kochubeys rest. In Soviet times, a museum of atheism was opened in the building. Now the Nikolaev temple is operating. Nearby grow 800-year-old Kochubeyev oaks, planted at the entrance to the former princely estate from Poltava.

Outside is a beautiful rotunda church. But it is impossible to get to the territory of the church, and even more so inside. Everything is closed. There is no information about the work schedule, there is no contact information. Security is not visible either. Strange and sad.
