When I travel, I always love to get out and explore the cities on my morning runs through the cities I am in. I came across this beautiful church first thing in the morning. It was fantastic site to see and I wasn’t able to get in, due to the time of the day. But another great stop in Poltava

The Great Martyr Panteleimon (his first name Pantoleon - "all over the lion", the second given at baptism, Panteleimon - "merciful") is revered in the Orthodox Church as a formidable saint, patron saint of warriors. The icons depict a young man in a red dress with a box in his left hand and a spoon in his right. He is treated as a healer in prayer from the ailments of the spiritual and the physical. The church was built in 1999 to mark the 1100th anniversary of Poltava in memory of fellow countrymen who rest in Poltava land. Temple architects: V. Tregubov, O. Belyavska. The temple was built with sponsorship funds. The church provides a plate with the carved names of those who are buried in the World Cemetery. Each Poltava can enter the name of their ancestors buried there.
