The first documentary mention of Bohorodchany dates back to 1441. The town, which to IIsv. war was the county seat in 1940. became an urban-type settlement and the center of the district. On February 6, 1691, the owner of the town, Constance Potocka, having received the permission of Archbishop Konstantin Lipsky a year ago, signed the foundation deed of the church-monastery complex of the Dominican priests. A wooden church and a monastery were built and equipped quite quickly (according to some sources, the church was built of brick). In 1641, Archbishop Mykola Vyzhytsky allowed the Potocki to build a new Dominican church. On October 2 of the same year, the cornerstone of the shrine was laid, and its construction was completed at the expense of the Kossakovskys in 1761 (except for the towers). After the church was properly arranged, it was consecrated on October 10, 1775 by Archbishop Vaclav Serakovsky, who also consecrated the main and side altars. The main one contained the famous image of the Mother of God with the Child, which from 1748 was surrounded by a special honor of the faithful. Renovation works in the church were carried out in the 40s and 50s of the XIX century, as well as in the early XX century. The shrine and the monastery were severely damaged during Isv. war. The church was rebuilt only in 1928-1933. The parish numbered from two (at the beginning of the 19th century) to six thousand (in the 1930s) faithful and had two branch shrines (in Gorokholyn and Grabovka). After IIsv. war then the rector of the parish Fr. Kaetan Kusiaty left for Poland together with private church property, including the above-mentioned miraculous image. A music school was placed in the monastery, and the church was turned into its warehouse. In 1991, the former church was given to the Orthodox of the Moscow Patriarchate. In 1994-1995. they carried out its partial repairs. For many years, the local Roman Catholic community sought the return of the former Dominican shrine. June 16, 2020 the building was handed over to the local Roman Catholic community.
