St. George's Church. Built in 1910-14 at the expense of local Cossacks. In Soviet times there was a grain warehouse. Worship services have been resumed since 1965, thanks to Father Archpriest Mikhail Makeev, who has been the rector of the church for more than 50 years. He is better known than the church itself, which belongs to Moscow. Archpriest Michael is a true servant of the Lord and Keeper of the Faith! Thanks and respect! The temple does not have the status of a historical monument, but it is so cozy and beautiful! An example of Ukrainian folk architecture.
And the temple is historic and the father is a whole era of history
Very good church and good sensible "father"
The temple where you want to pray, everything from the interior decoration of the temple, and the external territory is under constant care, a very large historical building, a believer, it is immediately clear that the rector of the temple and parishioners are one big family, and in the family the foundation of relations is love for any person Orthodox people there is nothing more important than learning to love God and neighbor, my purely opinion is that the church was a great martyr. George the Victorious is one of the last universities where they teach love, and fulfill their mission to save and help people.
Beautiful wooden temple, has its own unique atmosphere.
Friendly and benevolent minister.
Here is a brief history of the temple.
In the early 1900s the village grew and became richer. Then the locals decided to build a new temple, which for four years collected the money and cut off part of the neighboring oak forest. In 1913-1914 the construction was completed.
It should be noted that the St. George's Church was not built on the site of the old, built in the XVII century, and nearby, thus, there were two functioning temples in the village. However, in Soviet times, the fate of these temples repeated the fate of most others - the new church was closed in 1917, having made from it a warehouse, and the old one - dismantled in 1929.
During the Great Patriotic War, when the settlement was occupied by the Germans, the worship was resumed for some time. In the 1960s, after the death of the abbot - archpriest Anthony Trypillsky, the temple for several years was without a priest and was closed.
It should be noted that in the 60s of the last century there existed a rule according to which the temple, where more than three years of worship was not passed, were passed to the state, and in practice they were often eliminated. However, the faithful defended the Selishchensky Temple and did not allow it to be destroyed.
In 1965, a new era in the life of St. George's Church began - the priest of the temple was appointed the young priest Mikhail Makeyev, who has been serving here for more than fifty years. Father Michael had to revive the liturgical life and the temple itself, which was in a semi-destroyed form - the windows were knocked out, the roof leaked, and under the dome lived bats flying through the church during the service.
In the postwar years, the village was poor, so the church's renewal was a long process. Despite the ban on officials, Father Mikhail himself revived the sanctuary. They could help anyone. The interior preserved original paintings, to which were made and new ones. It is interesting that the altar in St. George's Church is part of the crayfish from the relics of St. Barbara, which was in St. Andrew's Church, and then at the Vladimir Cathedral in Kiev.
The majestic St. George's temple is built in the style of Ukrainian folk architecture. Interesting and infrequently a feature of rural temples are five domes, which, like some other architectural elements, are executed in the style of the Ukrainian Neobarco. In this case, the volume composition corresponds to the classical forms. The foundation of the temple is in the form of a cross. Gives the building a central large dome on an octagonal drum, around which there are four smaller ones in size. The facades are decorated with carvings, the icon of the heavenly patron - the Great Martyr George is placed above the main entrance. The tiered bell tower is attached to the main volume of the church through the transition.
In 2013, the St. George's Parish solemnly celebrated the 100th anniversary of its church.
