It's very lovely place to take good pictures of St. Sophia Cathedral. Going upstairs belfry, you can see very beautiful panoramic view of the square, hotel Hayatt, and St. Michael Monastery. It's good to visit it early in the mornings on weekends because almost no people there. At night the square is beautiful in electric lights. Be careful, when some people with birds or looking like big toys propose to take pictures with them for free. Usually, they ask for money or demand to delete photos from the phone.

Great peaceful square. I especially enjoy walking here in the evening/night on a week day, when it’s little people there, and feels especially calm when you are standing on a square between Saint Sophia and Saint Michael cathedrals. Becomes really lively in Christmas period, with Xmas tree, markets and many celebrations.

Quite impressive square surrounding by classic colourful buildings. The atmosphere is just quaint. It is a place to visit for open air concert and show.

It's a beautiful place. There is a good view on the cathedral on the other end of Sophiivska street and the horseman statue seems good. But if you going to visit it in the young autumn don't forget to take warm jacket with you, it's far more windy than all the surrounding streets.

Located just some 100 meters up hill from Maidan in front of Sofiska monastery. The number one place when it comes to celebrating big events in the city of Kiev like New Years Eve.
