Every inhabitant of our city, or guests of our region, passing through the main street of the city, always pay attention to the majestic building of the Orthodox Holy Resurrection Church of Rivne! But few know the history of its origin in the city center. The Orthodox wooden Holy Resurrection Church in Rivne was built in 1731 in the area of the current city food market. … On the morning of June 12 (according to the old style) in 1881 she suffered a severe ordeal, due to careless handling of fire, the shrine was completely destroyed, burned down ... It was decided to build a new church in the center of Rivne on the site of the wooden Church of the Resurrection of Christ, built in 1580 and founded by Princess Maria Nesvitskaya-Rivne, which burned down during the Tatar-Mongol invasion. The project of the new church was designed by architect Deineka. The plan of the cathedral has a cruciform structure: the middle, largest, dome and four small, low, at the corners. The city was awaiting the arrival of Emperor Alexander III and his family on August 25, 1890, when the construction of a new temple began. Initially, the new church was called Alexander, then it returned to the first name - Holy Resurrection Cathedral. In 1912, the cathedral received as a gift from the Patriarch of Jerusalem church relics and several precious icons. In the following years, the main temple of the city underwent various shocks. In Soviet times, according to the plan for the reconstruction of the city center, it was planned to demolish it and build a shopping center in its place. In February 1962, the authorities closed the cathedral and demolished some church buildings. A museum of cosmonautics and scientific atheism is opened in the cathedral. And only after 27 years of such bullying and various wanderings April 1989, during the celebration of the millennium of the baptism of Russia, the church was returned to the Orthodox Church, and the Holy Resurrection Cathedral again met its parishioners.

The cathedral is old and not beautiful, spoils the view of the city center, near the cathedral there are always a lot of homeless people sleeping near it, I do not advise.
